Electron beam evaporation is another process that takes place inside of a vacuum chamber. Specialized equipment—the EB gun and power supply—transforms high-voltage electricity into a beam of energy that vaporizes materials like gold. The resulting “vapor cloud” is used to create specialized precision coatings on wafers, lenses and other optical elements.
